Two things that happened to me this week which I definitely most share.
Story 1.
On Monday I had gone to NIMC center to collect my National Identity Card (if you haven't done yours please make sure you do). While I was seated there waiting for my name to be called an elderly man came in and met the attendant on why is card was not ready. Telling he had done since last year and his friends who did theirs this year were ready for collection. Clearly I knew this man was not educated, because when he was asked if he received an sms he didn't know what the attendant was saying but still the attendant went ahead to tell him to go to the NIMC website to check if his card was ready. Then my name was called and I don't know what transpired anymore but just as I was leaving I saw the elderly man lamenting in Yoruba on the staircase I could not resist but approach him for his details to check for him on the website Lo! and behold this man's card was ready for collection but not yet on for the date....
Long story ba...
But my pain was this attendant was a young man and sure one of those that will complain that government is bad he could have at least helped the man to just check instead of putting him off in that manner, clearly the elderly man was not literate enough.
P.S. I had to borrow someone's phone to help the man check because the network was poor on my phone all through the period I was in that building
P.S. Short story next time bear with me :)
Story 2.
Getting home Thursday night from work I bumped into a bird, no it's the other way round. The bird bumped into me. Two lessons I learnt will be narrated below.First I didn't scream which I would have done usually and I would have fallen into a gutter which was next to me. So yeah I faced my fear boldly.
Secondly I didn't let seeing a bird at night get the better part of me and run back instead the bird ran back.
After the bird ran back i saw what it was chasing a tiny lil rat which scampered away just as soon as I came to it's safety.
So guys tell me what exciting things happened to you this week and also what would you have done if you were in my shoes with the bird and the elderly man.
Please drop your comments as I really need feedback from my readers
Also if you have not done your NIMC registration please visit www.nimc.gov.ng for more details on closure and benefits
Nice Stories. You did the best thing possible to the old man. Pathetic that some people don't know their job. You even saved a life. Lols. What a fufilled week.
